JOVRNALISM was invited to attend the Doha Forum in Qatar and present its award-winning, immersive work
Six JOVRNALISM alums and Professor Hernandez were flown to Qatar as special guests of the kingdom after some government officials experienced immersive projects during a USC Center on Public Diplomacy summer workshop.
The team were among the international diplomats – ranging from Ivanka Trump to Nayib Bukele, president of El Salvador – attending the Doha Forum, showcasing their work on deportation, homelessness and sports diplomacy during the Winter Olympics.
In addition to presenting at the event, the team stayed a few extra days to explore the country that is hosting the next World Cup.
With immersive equipment in hand, the JOVRNALISM crew went to iconic locations like the desert, the souq, national museums, the new metro and even a soccer match.
Here is a video showcasing the trip:
The team will also be publishing two 360/VR pieces.
